Hi, I’m Nima Aby. Welcome to ElvenLaw, my personal blog where I write about the strange and fascinating world where law and technology collide.
The name “ElvenLaw” is part satire, part curiosity. It blends the fantasy vibe of “Elven” with the very real and often confusing world of law. If you’ve ever felt like navigating legal systems is like reading an ancient spellbook, you’re not alone. And when you throw in technology, things only get more bizarre and interesting.
I’m a legal researcher, writer, and co-founder of Pellonia and Dej, both legal tech startups focused on enabling content creators protect their intellectual property using technology. I’m also an alum of UBC Allard School of Law and Shahid Beheshti University, where I studied law and spent a lot of time thinking about how legal systems evolve (or fail to).
This blog is a place for ideas, experiments, and reflections. Some of the topics I write about include:
- How artificial intelligence is challenging traditional legal thinking
- What privacy means in a world of data and algorithms
- The messiness of regulating fast-moving tech
- And the occasional nerdy take on legal culture, games, and digital rights
Some posts are more serious, others more relaxed. Either way, I try to keep things clear, honest, and worth your time. If you're into legal theory, curious about tech policy, or just want to see what happens when lawyers start coding, I think you'll enjoy the ride.
Thanks for being here.
Nima
